When will there be a harvest for the world?
We’ve been harvesting; grapes, figs, persimmons.
Perhaps more people will move towards ‘home grown’, working with the land around them. Permaculture, growing their own food, eating simply and seasonly. It’s a more sustainable way of living.
And all of this becomes more pertinent as we hear more and more of a ‘cost of living crisis’.
It got me thinking.
While I was picking grapes off their vines, a song entered my head. I’ve been humming it for days.
When will there be a harvest for the world?
The original song was released in 1976, by the Isley Brothers and later covered by The Christians. The song presented a question; when will everyone have enough?
When will people have an equal share of what’s going on?
When might we enjoy equity in our world?
Nearly 50 years later, are we any closer to a fairer world?
Tune in to any news channel in most countries at the moment, and there are reports on food banks, price hikes and a cost of living crisis.
It all highlights the inequalities in our societies.
One man interviewed for the BBC reported no wage increase for 13 yrs! How is that possible? One U.K newspaper now features ‘The Heat or Eat Diaries’. And what’s shocking is how quickly all of this is being normalised in mainstream media.
It’s not O.K.
Meanwhile across the world many corporations continue to record record profits. Companies refuse to offer their workers decent salaries.
The fat cats get fatter.
Will it ever change?
Surely a better world is possible?
It’s surprising that people are not rioting in the streets and demanding more from their governments.
When will there be a harvest for the world?
